More and more countries are getting into the world of 5G network. This new kind of technology is here to replace its predecessor, the 4G network. According to the current data, the average speed of 5G fluctuates from 150 to 200 Mbps and it can reach the incredible number of 1Gbps. Practically, this means that the download time is reduced to 1/5 of the 4G network time and by extension 5G is 10 times faster. It is worth mentioning that the 5G network uses antennae with MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) technology which means that they can send and receive a big volume of data at a very high speed.
In addition, the technology of 5G is designed to help the connection of devices through the Internet of Things. As it is obvious IoT requires high speed networks to be utilized at the highest extent and this gap is covered by 5G technology. Moreover, thanks to 5G plenty of procedures in many disciplines such as health, industry, education are now by far faster compared to the past as long as now industries have been provided with ultra-reliable, available, low-latency links like remote control of critical infrastructure, vehicles, and medical procedures. Apparently, the entire economy can be benefited which can probably lead to prosperity. More specifically, according to some predictions thanks to 5G GDP is expected to grow about 2.1 Trillion dollars, about 22 million new jobs have been created and by 2035 5G will possessing 13.2 trillion dollars of the global economic output. Of course, there is no need to mention the huge impact of this technology in the field pf education where all procedures have become faster and this plays a significant role especially during the pandemic of coronavirus. What is more, 5G mobile technology improves the performance of smartphones which creates new immersive experiences for users such as VR and AR with faster, more uniform data rates, lower latency, and lower cost-per-bit.
At this point it is time to examine the other side of the coin. Are there any issues hidden behind 5G network? In general, when a new technology is introduced there will be some problems with it. Regarding 5G network, one of the most important concerns is its security. A lot of users have expressed their complaints about this matter. The truth is that 5G is a M2M (Machine to Machine) network which mean that its security focuses on many various attributes of users and their communication including authenticity, authority, integrity, and reliability. Privacy is of utmost importance for the wide development of M2M services to be established and for the reinforcement of users’ acceptance. Different M2M applications and domains may have different privacy requirements that need to be considered from the beginning of system design. Therefore, possible different requirements can lead to system development problems and to user experience.
In conclusion, we can say that 5G network is going to have a huge impact in our lives and is going to change the world as we know it. Of course, we have to be aware of the issues that this new technology brings along with it.
